I ran as quickly as a hog

I ran as quickly as a hog

A poem about lessons and loss. Inspired by W. Wordsworth.

  1. I ran as quickly as a hog
  2. That rolls with Tails o'er greens and hills,
  3. When all at once I hit a spike,
  4. A host of gold from me did spill;
  5. Beside the shuttle, around the loop,
  6. Spining and dancing down the scoop.
  7.
  8. Continuous as the Star Light Zone
  9. And twinkle like a bonus stage,
  10. They stretched in outward moving line
  11. Along the margin of the way:
  12. Then hundreds saw I at a glance,
  13. Glinting their circlets in sprightly dance.
  14.
  15. The foes beside them fought, but they
  16. Outdid the shooting foes in glee:
  17. A gamer could not help but play,
  18. In such a risky state of being:
  19. I ran and rolled, yet always thought
  20. What wealth my poor playing had cost:
  21. For oft, when on my couch I lie
  22. In zoned out or distracted mood,
  23. They flash upon my gamer's eye
  24. Which is the price of lazy-tude;
  25. And then my heart with resolve fills,
  26. And zooms to finish the green hills.
